Convention of States Action encourages all activists to write to their local newspapers. This helps to spread the Article V solution to the overreaching federal government to those who have never come across COSA.
In the past week, a Wyoming and a New Hampshire volunteer published letters to local news outlets.
"In Wyoming, we are mostly free and responsible for ourselves. Here we try to live the legacy left to us by the Founders – to live without government interference," wrote Helene Belisle in The Cheyenne Post.
Her letter was published on Feb. 8 following the Wyoming Senate's passage of the Convention of States Resolution:
I am a second generation American – my grandparents arrived penniless at Ellis Island asking for nothing more than an opportunity to become citizens and participate in the American dream. I must fight for them and generations to come.
Freedom cannot be separated from responsibility. Now is the time for our legislators to have the moral courage to approve the resolution for a Convention of States as provided in Article V in the U.S. Constitution. Help Wyoming make a stand for freedom: please contact your Wyoming State Representative and ask them to vote yes on SJ11.
In New Hampshire, State Director Al Brandano published a letter on Feb. 11 in Granite Grok addressing the "hocus pocus" fear tactics about an Article V convention:
Imagine a group calling themselves patriots, afraid to use the powers constitutionally and unanimously bestowed to the states in 1787 from perhaps the greatest men of intellect ever assembled in history.
This group’s tactics include hocus pocus, magician’s wand, sleight of hand, and even flying monkeys of FEAR to make you think a Constitutional Convention is the same as an “Article V” Convention of States.
Article V COS simply would allow NH to become the 20th state to authorize faithful delegates picked by the NH legislature to meet with other states and propose amendments to “THIS” Constitution. (Not Change It). To be called to enact on the Federal Government; fiscal restraints, term limits, and restoration of states’ rights. (Supported by nearly 80% of the US population)
Thanks to all grassroots activists for working to spread the Convention of States message to more patriots!
