Fetterman says elites should stop ‘insulting’ men

Published in Blog on December 02, 2024 by Jakob Fay

Professor Allan Lichtman is really super duper smart. He developed some theory about keys that enabled him to accurately predict every U.S. presidential election: Trump in 2016. Biden in 2020. Harris in 2024.

Oh, wait. Oops.

Now, Mr. Smart Guy is really mad. He’s mad because he knows he didn’t actually get the election wrong (remember, he’s really smart!); the American people got it wrong. Nearly 77 million Americans voted for the wrong person because they’re stupid, bigoted conspiracy theorists — thus saith the preeminent Professor Lichtman.

Clearly, the elite liberal intelligentsia — Lichtman chief among them — has refused to learn its lesson. Post November 5, the New York Times blasted the Democrats as “a party of prigs and pontificators.” “The broad inability of liberals to understand Trump’s political appeal except in terms flattering to their beliefs is itself part of the explanation for his historic… comeback,” the newspaper mused.

“Right now,” the author concluded, “my larger fear is that liberals lack the introspection to see where they went wrong, the discipline to do better next time and the humility to change.”

Less than one month later, his cautionary prophecy has already come true. “Nobody likes a sore loser” should have been etched on the foreheads of every pro-Harris media talking head and MSNBC breaking news banner. Instead, they all responded with their signature brand of supercilious lectures.

Lichtman chief among them.

When left-wing commentator Cenk Uygur accused Lichtman of blaming the voters (which he was), the professor fired back with a conceited rant only possible from a stuck-up establishment mouthpiece.

“I debated Professor Lichtman before,” said Uygur. “I told him his theories about the keys were absurd. I was right. He was wrong.”

“No, you were not right, and I was not wrong,” the angry man roared. “And that’s a cheap shot, and I won’t stand for it…. You should not be taking cheap shots at me. You want to make your point, make your point, don’t make it personal…. I’ve only been a professional for 51 years, published 15 books. How many books have you published? … Don’t call me stupid! Who taught you manners? … I will not sit here and stand for personal attacks, for blasphemy against me.”

And we wonder why people like that lost the election.

Let’s review the facts: Lichtman predicts Harris will win the election.
Harris loses.
Lichtman blames the voters and accuses anyone who points out that he was wrong of committing “blasphemy” against him.

Unfortunately, that mentality pervades the mainstream media complex. For example, Joy Reid had this to say about Thanksgiving this year.

On and on it goes.

Very few people on the elite establishment Left have had the courage to look in the mirror and admit where they went wrong. That’s because (in their minds) they didn’t go wrong. These are the unerring priests and prophets of the new aristocratic religion, against whom critcism amounts to sacrilege.

John Fetterman stands out as a rare detractor.

In a recent interview, the junior senator from Pennsylvania critiqued his party for its failure to connect with “the bros” — “males, blue-collar guys, just people.”

When asked how his side could reconnect with dissatisfied male voters, he advised, “Have a conversation. Have a conversation with anyone that’s willing to have an honest conversation. That’s always been the rule, and that’s what I’m going to continue. I’ve had conversations on Fox News, and they’ve played me straight. I’ve shown up on Newsmax, and they’ve played it straight. And Rogan. Rogan was great. He was cordial and open and warm.”

In other words, reject everything Joy Reid said wholesale.

“It was clear [in 2016] that people were voting for Trump,” Fetterman continued. “And the Democrats’ response was, ‘Aren’t they smart enough to realize they’re voting against their interests?’ And that’s insulting… that’s just not helpful.”

“It’s condescending. And if anything, that reinforces that kind of stereotype. Telling them that ‘I know better than you do,’ that’s not helpful.”

This is useful advice. I doubt anyone on the holier-than-thou, elitist Left will follow it. “I know better than you do” resounded 24/7 from mainstream media soapboxes over the past four years. We aren’t out of the woods yet. We’re in for another four years — if not longer — of sermons and monologues from the Allan Lichtmans and Joy Reids of the world.

Fortunately, we don’t have to listen to them.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
