Don’t miss these essential headlines!

Published in Blog on May 22, 2023 by Jakob Fay

Happy Monday, patriots!

As we jump into a brand-new week in the fight for liberty, you won’t want to miss these headlines from last week’s news cycle. You can listen to these stories here on the latest episode of The Liberty Update.

1. Why did the FBI show up at the childhood home of this pro-life activist?

Security camera footage obtained by The Daily Signal reportedly shows two female FBI agents visiting the childhood home of Elise Ketch, an anti-abortion activist.

“This weaponization of our government institutions protects the abortion industrial complex,” blazoned Elise, “and it reinforces that we must disrupt these unjust power structures.”

Learn more about the shocking story here.

2. States unite in banning transgender treatments on children

In recent months, 19 states have restricted sex change treatments on minors, underscoring both the severity of the issue and the significance of state power.

Meanwhile, the White House press secretary spoke to transgender children over the weekend and criticized bans on youth trans treatments, saying "These are our kids. They belong to all of us."

3. Americans demand spending cuts in debt ceiling negotiations

President Joe Biden and Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy both say that they are determined to reach an agreement regarding the federal government’s debt ceiling before America defaults on its debt, but despite ongoing negotiations, progress seems to have stalled.

The president met with several high-ranking lawmakers this week in the White House for face-to-face brokering. The general consensus among both parties was that America will not default (which could happen as soon as June 1 if Congress does not hike its debt limit).

4. America’s sickening reality revealed in Durham report

The long-awaited Durham report was released on Monday after more than three years, revealing the FBI had no verified evidence for opening an investigation into former President Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.

The Justice Department opened the Crossfire Hurricane probe to investigate Trump's connections to Russia. However, Special Counsel John Durham concludes that there was no basis for the claims, proving the agency was set on taking down Trump’s campaign and destroying his public image.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
