Why did the FBI show up at the childhood home of this pro-life activist?

Published in Blog on May 18, 2023 by Jakob Fay

Security camera footage obtained by The Daily Signal reportedly shows two female FBI agents visiting the childhood home of Elise Ketch, an anti-abortion activist.

Captured by the home’s Ring doorbell, the video shows the women addressing Ketch’s mother, flashing their badges, and requesting to speak to her daughter, whom they are informed does not live in the home anymore.

“She’s not in any trouble,” one agent assures Tracy Ketch. “We just have some information we need to ask her about.”

Additional footage allegedly shows Tracey calling her daughter before becoming visibly uneasy and motioning for the agents to leave.

Elise Ketch is a member of the Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising group, an organization of left-wing women opposed to abortion. The group has “faced charges from the Justice Department for violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances [FACE] Act, which ‘prohibits threats of force, obstruction and property damage intended to interfere with reproductive health care services….’” These incidents took place before Ketch joined the team, however. She has participated in non-violent abortion protests, but told The Daily Signal that she “does not believe that she has ever been involved in any kind of activity that would allow authorities to bring FACE Act charges against her.”

Ketch explained that one of her colleagues is being “prosecuted by the federal government,” and speculated that the FBI may be seeking derogatory information about her.

“While they reassured my mother that I was not in trouble, it’s also possible that they see me as a threat due to my pro-life activism and intended to investigate me,” she added. “Yet, to my knowledge, they never attempted to follow up with me or my attorney, so I believe the FBI’s true motive behind their visit to my parents’ home was to intimidate me and my team.”

She then issued a seething rebuke: “This weaponization of our government institutions protects the abortion industrial complex, and it reinforces that we must disrupt these unjust power structures. The most prevalent domestic threat to our country is the murder of thousands of preborn people by abortion each day. It is not terrorism to nonviolently intervene and rescue these powerless children before their slaughter. I’m willing to risk my own freedom and sacrifice my rights in order to secure theirs.”

If Ketch’s theory is correct, this would not be the first time the federal government has employed the FBI against pro-life citizens.

As Convention of States previously reported, for example, Marc Houc, a pro-life dad of seven, was arrested by an armed FBI SWAT team last year for defending his son during sidewalk counseling at an abortion center. Amazingly, the case had already been dismissed by a state court when the DOJ inexplicably decided to step in.

Biden’s Justice Department, spearheaded by the inimical Merrick Garland, has been hounded by accusations of being weaponized against the president's enemies. From treating parents like terrorists to cracking down on pro-life activism, Garland’s renegade DOJ seems bound and determined to forcibly enact Biden’s far-left agenda.

By calling an Article V convention we can stop escalating authoritarianism in its tracks and keep the federal government from barging into our lives and homes. To show your support, sign the COS petition below! It’s time for the American people to stand up to our runaway federal government and prove that we will not back down.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
