Maine's state motto is "Dirigo," a Latin word meaning "I direct" or "I lead."
It's the shortest and simplest motto possible, but its deeper significance reveals the brightness of those who planted the state's seeds.

Dirigo is displayed on the top of Maine's state flag, reminding all residents of the importance of leading.

Through results, we confirm our important influence in revitalizing America to a nation of self-governance – a nation that thrives without overreaching demands and burdens from far-away voices in Washington.
