In any endurance race -- whether through the hills and valleys of a cross-country trail, the streets of a big city in a major marathon, or the quest to call an Article V convention to reduce the size and scope of the federal government for good -- there will be obstacles, frustration, and exhaustion. The temptation to abandon the course can be difficult to overcome.
But to finish the race and win the race, one must summon the fortitude and dedication to see it through.
Digging deep for those reserves was the topic of the inspirational and edifying April 8 Grassroots Leadership Focus call.
If you were unable to attend in real time, you can watch and listen to the entire call by clicking below:
The call featured updates on the progress that COS has made during the 2025 legislative season thanks to the work of the superlative grassroots and legislative champions across the country, as well as breaking news about migrating to the Zulip communication platform and information about the Race to Freedom summit in Indianapolis this September (register now).
Thorough updates from our regional directors and associate regional directors brought attendees the latest about activities and events on the ground.
Convention of States action co-founder and senior advisor Michael Farris joined the call. He talked about the encouragement he gained from listening to the reports, and his travels in Wyoming, Montana, and Iowa among other states to testify on behalf of Article V resolutions. He also noted significant parallels between his efforts in the national homeschooling movement and the progress of COS.
"There are seasons, there are ups, there are downs," he said. "This is the most ambitious project I've ever been involved with and, therefore, one of the most daunting."
In all, the call was as rejuvenating as it was inspiring, and you are encouraged to take it all in as we sprint toward the finish line together.
Next month's Grassroots Leadership Focus will feature COSA co-founder and president Mark Meckler as the featured guest on May 13 at 9:00 p.m. ET.
