Americans ain't buying what the federal government is selling.
That was the topline result of a new poll conducted by Convention of States Action and the Trafalgar Group on what Americans think about the origins of the COVID-19 virus.
Even though federal officials have downplayed the theory that the virus escaped from a lab in Wuhan, a full 54% of all Americans believe the virus was created by China. Only 17% have bought the party line that the virus originated naturally while 29% say they are unsure.
“Despite more than a year of relentless disinformation from Dr. Anthony Fauci, government officials, the mainstream media, and Big Tech censorship designed to silence dissent, the American people are not fooled. Voters know the Chinese Communist Party created COVID-19,” said Mark Meckler, President of Convention of States Action. “Our current leadership in Washington is in conflict with the American people, who will demand that corrupt federal officials—and virus-creators in China—are held accountable for unleashing a biological disaster on the entire world.”
The results are somewhat skewed by political party, but not by as much as you might expect: 37% of Democrats, 55% of Independents, and 74% of Republicans say COVID-19 originated in Wuhan lab.
In fact, more Democrats believe the virus originated in a lab (37%) than that it originated in nature (28%).
Dr. Fauci's Downplaying
Americans older than 15 months are old enough to remember when Dr. Anthony Fauci downplayed the idea that COVID-19 came from a lab. When asked about the virus's origins in April of 2020, Fauci said, that the scientific evidence "is totally consistent with a jump of a species from an animal to a human."
Later that same day, the president of EcoHealth Alliance, the group that helped fund the Wuhan lab's research, thanked Fauci for his "brave" words, according to emails obtained by the media: “From my perspective, your comments are brave, and coming from your trusted voice, will help dispel the myths being spun around the virus’ origins,” he wrote.
Fauci responded by thanking him for his "kind words."
Now, the lab leak theory is getting a second look, and more and more Americans are realizing what Convention of States supporters have known for a long time: we can't trust the federal government.
We can't trust them with our nation's finances or our children's futures. We can't trust them with healthcare, the economy, energy, the environment, or gun rights. We can't trust them with education or business. And we can't trust them to tell us the truth even in the midst of a national crisis.
That's why over five million Americans have joined the Convention of States Project. They know that the federal government's power must be restricted, and they want to reassert their right to self-governance.
A Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments. These amendments can limit federal power, restrict federal spending, and limit the terms of office for federal officials.
This complete package of amendments will transfer power from bureaucrats like Dr. Fauci to everyday Americans and the state leaders who serve them. To join the movement, sign the petition below!
