With just 20 days left until Election Day, political campaigns are down to the wire on convincing Americans why their policies are best for the future of America.
New polling data indicates that despite the persuasion tactics, the price at the pump is what will really drive votes this November.
The survey from Convention of States Action in partnership with the Trafalgar Group – one of the most reputable pollsters in America – shows 54.4% of voters say rising gas prices will make them more likely to vote for Republican candidates in the 2022 midterm elections.
This offers a huge advantage to Republicans who in previous years have been neck and neck with opponents with the slightest margins.
Among independent voters who may swing in either direction, 55.5% say the high gas prices give them more of a reason to vote Republican. Even among Democrats the approval has shifted. The poll finds that over 11% of Democrat-affiliated voters are more likely to vote Republican with the heightened gas prices.
When Americans have more money flowing out of their pockets, it’s no wonder they will respond accordingly at the polls.
Whether dealing with green energy initiatives or any other costly programs, it all comes back to finances and affordability for most American.
The same would be true for politicians, however, they are able to spend taxpayer dollars without a blink of an eye because the cash is not flowing out of their pockets. Because of this irresponsible way of conducting government, it's time for a change in Washington.
Convention of States Action will bring the much-needed change through calling an Article V convention, where a balanced budget and other limitations to the federal governments power can be addressed.
