What do you have in common with the man who now holds the office first occupied by Thomas Jefferson?
You both support Convention of States.
On January 20, former United States Senator and COS endorser Marco Rubio was confirmed as Secretary of State by his former colleagues in the Senate, squeaking by in a 99-0 vote.
Rubio thus becomes the first member of President Donald Trump's Cabinet and the first COS endorser to hold a Cabinet position in any administration.
Rubio emphasized the importance of citizen engagement when announcing his support for COS by saying "I put my trust in the people, not Washington, in the critical effort to restore constitutional, limited government. The Convention of States Project is a genuine grassroots movement to achieve that goal, and one that I am proud to be a part of."
Rubio is no latecomer to the Article V movement. In an interview with COS endorser, talk radio host, and bestselling author Mark Levin that aired in 2016, Rubio elaborated on his reasoning for supporting an Article V convention to reduce the size and scope of the federal government:
Following his Senate confirmation vote, Rubio was quoted as saying "It's an important job in an important time, and I'm honored by it.
Confirmation votes for more Trump nominees -- including COS endorser and Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth -- are expected in the coming days.
Congratulations, Secretary Rubio!
