The Environmental Protection Agency proposed on Wednesday electrifying two-thirds of all new vehicles sold in the U.S. in the next nine years.
Under the proposal, electric vehicles would make up between 56% and 67% of new car sales by 2032, despite EVs making up just 5.8% of new vehicle sales in 2022.
The ability to push America toward these destructive green standards is all thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, which passed the Senate along party lines last year.
The rules don't specify EV sale requirements but rather set pollution standards, forcing the auto industry to sell more EVs. However, almost 50% of Americans say it's unlikely that they would purchase an electric vehicle as their next car, according to a poll from the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago and the AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research
“By proposing the most ambitious pollution standards ever for cars and trucks, we are delivering on the Biden-Harris Administration’s promise to protect people and the planet, securing critical reductions in dangerous air and climate pollution and ensuring significant economic benefits like lower fuel and maintenance costs for families,” EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan said.
Regan described the EPA plan as "marrying regulation with historic incentives." In other words, more government oversight guaranteed with citizen bribes.
The executive branch's demands would never pass if proposed in Congress, so the EPA is unconstitutionally bypassing the legislative branch. The good news concerning the power abuse is that it can be stopped by the Supreme Court, or more permanently through Convention of States.
Last year, the Supreme Court sided with West Virginia in a lawsuit against intrusive EPA rules. The nation's highest court ruled that "it is not plausible that Congress gave EPA the authority to adopt on its own such a regulatory scheme."
West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, who is running for governor, says the latest infringement shows that the "administration is hell bent on destroying America’s energy security and independence by making us dependent on resources and components that can come only from abroad."
The EPA will continue to overreach its constitutional authority until We the People put an end to it.
Article V of the Constitution is the long-term solution. It allows the people to call a convention to propose amendments to the Constitution that will permanently limit the authority of the entire federal government.
