Just around the corner are two important elections: Florida’s school board primaries in August and the national midterms in November. If ever there was a time for citizens to help get our country back to its founding beliefs, it clearly would be now. The upcoming elections give us a great opportunity to make changes by electing the lawmakers and school board trustees who care about our Constitution and what America stands for. This is our time to make the most of it.
We are witnessing ideology that has allowed massive federal overreach in schools, including indoctrination of our children with social emotional learning. The good news is that Americans are noticing how their lives are being affected and the pushback is in full gear.
As we know, a primary role of lawmakers and school boards is to ensure the wishes of communities are reflected in their procedures and policies. They must be willing to listen to what people in their communities need and want. Unfortunately, this has not been the case with some school districts as we see critical race theory and sexual orientation in our children’s learning curriculum. In some places, parental involvement is being shunned instead of embraced.
The Convention of States volunteers encourage activists not only to show up at school board meetings, but also to get to know their candidates, and even run for school board seats. Volunteering is the easiest way to get involved in your state’s issues and learn how local elections shape our future. By becoming a COS volunteer you can be a part of this historic grassroots movement to restore our founding principles and God-given rights.
Florida legislators and Governor DeSantis continue to shine a light on our founding principles. This year he signed the HB 1467 bill which requires school districts to be transparent in the selection of instructional materials, giving parents the right to be involved in their child’s education.
LET'S ALL WORK TOGETHER FOR THIS IMPORTANT CAUSE!
School board elections provide an opportunity to get involved. If you are interested in this initiative, sign up as a volunteer activist and indicate school or education in the "other" box. Take this grassroots opportunity to bring heightened awareness to our fellow Floridians as they elect school board trustees.
