Corruption: Why does Hunter Biden get away with crimes other Americans are put in prison for?

Published in Blog on July 23, 2022 by Jakob Fay

President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden has a long history of questionable behavior and is often the subject of controversy. Known for his dodgy, $50,000 per month job in Ukraine and his habit of blowing family money on drugs, prostitutes, and strip clubs, Hunter’s past has been a constant drag on his family name.

Many have long suspected the president’s son of having committed crimes, but recent uncoverings seem to corroborate that he has committed at least one–and isn’t being charged for it.

According to Politico, Hunter, when purchasing a firearm, “responded “no” to a question on the transaction record that asks, “Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?” Five years earlier, he had been discharged from the Navy Reserve after testing positive for cocaine, and he and family members have spoken about his history of drug use.”

The law strictly forbids making a false statement regarding one’s substance abuse or addiction when attempting to purchase a gun. To do so is a felony.

“The gun-store incident occurred during a period after Hunter Biden’s administrative discharge from the Naval Reserves for his positive cocaine test and his subsequent divorce from his first wife, Kathleen,” Politico continued. “At the time of the gun incident, Hunter was in a romantic relationship with Hallie, the widow of his late brother, Beau.”

In his memoir, Hunter admitted that at the time of the purchase he was “smoking crack every 15 minutes,” National Review noted. To strengthen the case against him, “there are photographs of the president’s naked son wielding the gun with drugs and drug paraphernalia in the frame.”

Lying to obtain a gun may be the least on Hunter’s long list of sins, but it is a crime nonetheless. National Review’s report tells the stories of many less fortunate Americans who face up to 10 years in prison for committing similar crimes.

This is a classic example of the “for thee but not for me” mentality that permeates our political ruling class. Of course, Hunter Biden is not an official member of the federal government but his ties with the DC swamp run deep enough, apparently, to keep him from being prosecuted for his crimes.

Convention of States is hard at work to drain the swamp and end its reign of corruption. We believe no one should be let off the hook just because of their position or status in Washington. To bring accountability back to our federal government, add your signature to the COS petition below!

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
