The Convention of States Maryland team has been busier than ever these last few weeks, appearing at multiple events every weekend.
October 15 was Team Maryland's first foray into block walking in the Windsor Mill area. Led by our Block Walking Captain, Collin O'Meally, they dedicated 2 hours to knocking on doors and introducing residents to Convention of States. We picked up more signatures. More block walking dates and sign ups are coming.
State Director Mike Rilee and long-time COS'er Mary Jane Perraut attended a gathering at the Montgomery County Town hall Meeting where they pitched Convention of States. The presentation was a success, and they will make an encore presentation in Ellicott City on October 27.
For the first time ever, COSA attended the Saint Mary's County Fair, and spread the word all weekend. They were rewarded with 119 petition signatures, including two local radio hosts, and even more digital ones. The team gave a shout-out to Scott McPherson, who worked a total of 32 hours over the four-day event.
In another event, the team at the Calvert County fair achieved 72 petitions over three days despite rain delays!
COS also made its presence felt at the Gaithersburg Oktoberfest with a new volunteer: Judson Anglin! Mary Jane Perraut lauded all the volunteers and their efforts during the Fest.
"[Our volunteers] were fabulous with their COS elevator pitches. It was a very busy event and we were able to get 44 signed petitions in five hours. In addition, many more were interested in COS but preferred to read about it online before signing. Overall, it was fun engaging with the volunteers and having great conversations with people passing by."
Rookie District Captain Wayne Tindle took care of Convention of States business by setting up shop for the first time ever at the Worcester County Fair. Wayne is just getting started on building his team and the grassroots on the Eastern Shore. We're sure to hear more on his progress in the coming months.
Our District Captains are working hard to get out the Convention of States message all across Maryland. The more petition signers we gather, the more volunteers are needed to represent us at events. There are many ways to get involved including in grassroots development, legislative partnerships, communications and media. Join our team and grow with us.
