Last Saturday, the Northern Michigan Convention of States (COS) representatives talked with a myriad of citizens attending the Cadillac Gun show. Many citizens signed the COS petition asking Michigan legislators to support the call for a convention to amend the US constitution. Most importantly, we were able to discuss the more recent, wildly inappropriate actions of the US government.
What did we hear?
1. People do not know that states can amend the US Constitution.
2. They do not know that top conservatives are endorsing the Convention of States project.
3. They do not know that 19 states have already passed the Resolution.
4. People have been lied to with threats of a runaway convention (promulgated by Soros-funded and similar groups).
As a result, we were able to provide helpful information through discussions and literature. Our booth was attention-getting, and Warren Van Overbeke (pictured above) and Robert Bonhag were able to interact with many of our local citizens.
What does this mean for COS?
Many Americans believe a Convention of States is the solution to end federal overreach and protect our constitutional freedoms! The three-prong COS approach is a winner: Term limits for Congress and federal bureaucrats, fiscal responsibility, and returning power back to the states
According to the July 2022 survey done by The Trafalgar Group, a majority of citizens are in favor of Convention of States. The COS movement is bridging divides and crossing party lines on all fronts in the fight for liberty (including Democrat, Republican, and Independent voters).

BOTTOM LINE
The real bottom line for the citizens we spoke with: we need to stop the runaway efforts of the US Congress, the President, and the D.C. bureaucrats.
For those of us who served in the military to protect and defend this country, we did so to keep us free. Most of the wars and struggles we participated in were against the communist way of life that leads in every case to persecution and loss of individual freedom. Our federal government, particularly now, seems to be moving us into communism and we are being asked to give up more of our personal freedoms.
We must band together to reverse this trend toward more central government control. One tangible way is to amend the US constitution to institute term limits in Washington, instill fiscal responsibility and reverse the movement of more power to Washington.
Based on the research, most of us agree.
Individual freedom and local control are the two tenets of the foundation of the United States. We want to return to more local control and less interference from the federal government. This country was founded by people for the people, not to establish a new tyrannical government to control us.

Convention of States Action is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization founded for the purpose of stopping the runaway power of the federal government.
