Chris Salcedo: Tell your state legislators to support Convention of States

Published in Blog on February 12, 2021 by Article V Patriot

Newsmax's Chris Salcedo has a simple message for Americans worried about the future of our country: tell your state legislators to support a Convention of States.

"The federal government failed We the People long ago," he said on a recent episode of his show. "Now, your job is to learn the name of your state representative. You must let them know that you wish for your state to participate in an Article V Convention of States."

As Salcedo explains, our country has succumbed to policies and ideas that will devastate our economy and destroy our power on the world stage. Congress ignores the will of their constituents, and the White House pushes radical policies via executive fiat.

We won't find solutions to these problems in Washington. They've had their chance. Now it's time to turn to the states, which are empowered by the Constitution to call a Convention of States to propose constitutional amendments.

These amendments can limit federal power, limit federal spending, and kick career politicians out of Washington. They can reassert the states' role in our nation's governance, and put power back where it belongs: as close to home as possible.

To join the effort in your state, and follow Salcedo's advice, sign the petition below! We'll send a copy directly to your state legislators asking them to support an Article V Convention of States.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:

Thank you so much for your service to the people of our district.
