Can the States Defeat Lunacy?

Published in Blog on June 19, 2023 by Stanley E Gilewicz

"A society that loses its sense of outrage is doomed to extinction." Judge Edwin Torres, NY State Supreme Court in Defining Deviancy Down

The opening link refers to Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan’s seminal essay on the dangers of accepting deviant behavior. Written in the winter 1993 edition of The American Scholar, it is essential reading for understanding the insanity we see swirling around us. A classical liberal senator from NY understood the need to define and prohibit deviant behavior. How far have we fallen when politicians now embrace particularly evil agendas?

The Destruction of the Innocent

The Bible makes clear that the harming of our children is considered a most grievous offense in God’s eyes: It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones (Luke 17:2). Yet here we are, the greatest nation in all of mankind’s history, arguing about the “right” to mutilate, sterilize and poison the most vulnerable and precious among us: our children. How we got to this point is eloquently explained in Moynihan’s essay. Each time a societal norm is expanded or destroyed to accommodate behavior hostile to that society, the level of deviancy is allowed to increase.

Florida Joins the Resistance

On May 17, Florida officially banned the gender mutilation and poisoning of minors joining 19 others in saying NO to the willful harming of the innocent and naïve. Texas recently became the largest state to ban the gender “change” madness as numerous other states have legislation queued up for the next round of legislative sessions. The separate states, as “Islands of Resistance”, are asserting their right as a fourth, and most powerful, branch of the government by refusing to acquiesce to madness.

"Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence..." John Adams 1770

John Adams famous summation during the Boston Massacre trial is a ringing call to clear thinking. XX and XY are the only possibilities for gender. If anyone, whether an individual, an organization, or a government, attempts to redefine a fact, it is our duty to call out the falsehood lest the lie grows in acceptance. The “spectrum of gender identity” is an absolute biological falsehood and must be vigorously rejected.

COSA encourages ALL US citizens to acknowledge that children are our most precious resource. They are the future citizens and leaders of our republic. Regardless of political or cultural alignments, please  forge respectful relationships with your town, city, county, and state representatives but let them know how you wish to be governed and insist upon a normal childhood and adolescence for our kids.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
