Do you have $106,150 lying around? Do your children and grandchildren?
That figure -- $106,150 -- is the current share of the national debt for every single American.
That debt is rapidly approaching $36.3 trillion and grows by the second. Each day we spend $1.8 billion alone to service the debt.
President Donald Trump has blasted out of the blocks in his monumental quest to reform the federal government. He has already demonstrated use of executive power that makes Theodore Roosevelt seem shy and retiring by comparison.
But history tells us that we cannot rely solely upon a particular administration, any Congress, or any federal agency to establish the proper conditions for fiscal renewal, reform, and responsibility.
Until and unless structural changes are made that cannot be easily altered the share of the budget dedicated to servicing the debt, and the share of every American will only rise while the outlook for future generations grows dim.
An Article V convention will certainly discuss and propose an amendment or amendments that place strict restraints upon the federal government's power to tax and spend -- a necessary regimen of simplicity and basic economic sense.
As of now, only 15 more states need to pass our COS resolution to call an Article V convention. This can be done and must be done immediately. Just in the last week, great progress has been made toward that effort in South Dakota and Wyoming. Much more progress will be made as 2025 unfolds and the momentum for fiscal sanity and security builds across the country.
COS is getting it done in the states.
We and our representatives in state capitols were given a responsibility by the Founders and those who sacrificed everything to perform the function envisioned for us -- to stand up when the federal government is out of control and take the reins.
Join the fight by signing the petition below and volunteering to advance the call for an Article V convention so that your children and grandchildren can enjoy the economic benefits of a government that is held to a standard of balance and restraint that is required of each of us.
Anyone who does have an extra hundred thousand dollars at their disposal certainly shouldn't use it to pay off the debt of a runaway government.
