Breaking: McCarthy officially launches House impeachment inquiry into Biden

Published in Blog on September 12, 2023 by Brianna Kraemer

The House of Representatives will open an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden's business dealings with his son Hunter Biden, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy announced Tuesday morning.

Allegations of abuse of power, obstruction, and corruption have warranted further investigation, McCarthy said when announcing a formal impeachment probe into the president.

McCarthy listed several troublesome situations within Biden's circle: The president lied to the American people regarding his own knowledge about his family's foreign business deals; bank records show that $20 million was directed to the Biden family and associates through various companies; Biden also used his official office to coordinate with his son's business partners about Hunter's role in Burisma with the Ukrainian energy company.

"These allegations paint a picture of a culture of corruption," McCarthy declared during a press conference. "Even a trusted FBI informant has alleged a bribe to the Biden family."

Three House committees led by Reps. James Comer, Jim Jordan, and Jason Smith will gather all the facts and answers for the public through forthcoming investigations.

The federal government should not be used to cover up the actions of a corrupt, political family. As McCarthy insisted, these facts should concern all Americans regardless of party. Nevertheless, Democrat Sen. Chuck Schumer reacted to the impeachment inquiry with contention Tuesday afternoon, calling it 'absurd' and a 'witch hunt.'

Regardless of our political differences, we all can agree that both sides have brought us to where we stand as a nation today. The nation's decline is a direct result of Washington, and the only way we can stop it is by joining forces together with Convention of States.

By calling an Article V convention as provided in the Constitution, we can rein in the federal government at the state level. The states create the United States, not the federal government. Support the cause by adding your name to the petition below.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
