Uncle Sam is coming after your light bulbs.
The now expected grounds for government overreach: the environment.
Just weeks after targeting gas stoves, the Department of Energy is banning incandescent light bulbs, the popular type of bulb invented by Thomas Edison in 1879.
Once the rule takes effect in July, Americans will only be able to purchase LED light bulbs at retail stores across the nation, a move part of the Biden administration's climate agenda.
The Energy Department claims LED bulbs provide more light using 75% less energy than incandescent lights. However, the department also asserts the transition will save Americans $3 billion annually, but a quick search reveals LED bulbs cost more than incandescent bulbs. The government is banking on the fact that LEDs last about 25 times longer.
The average cost of an LED light bulb ranges from $5 to $7 each, while an incandescent light bulb would normally range from $2 to $3 a bulb, according to Lifehacker.

Is there anything they won't try to ban?
For those who seek independence from bureaucratic oversight, a shared thought involves the intended role of the federal government.
