Tens of thousands of U.S. military members have applied for religious exemptions to the Biden administration's draconian COVID-19 vaccine mandate. These brave men and women hold sincere religious beliefs that prohibit them from taking a vaccine that was developed using aborted babies.
So far, their pleas have gone unanswered, according to the Associated Press:
More than 12,000 military service members refusing the COVID-19 vaccine are seeking religious exemptions, and so far they are having zero success.
That total lack of approvals is creating new tensions within the military, even as the vast majority of the armed forces have gotten vaccinated.
The services, urgently trying to keep the coronavirus pandemic in check by getting troops vaccinated, are now besieged with exemption requests they are unlikely to approve. Meanwhile, troops claiming religious reasons for avoiding the shots are perplexed because exemptions are theoretically available, yet seem impossible to obtain.
The men and women of our armed forces deserve our utmost respect and appreciation. Part of that respect must entail a certain amount of deference to their religious beliefs. If a soldier believes taking the COVID vaccine violates his or her commitments to faith, they should be exempted.
But in his efforts to impose a tyrannical vaccine requirement on the entire country, President Joe Biden, the supposed leader of the armed forces, has thrown that respect out the window. He's clearly not interested in honoring the religious beliefs of our soldiers, and thousands of soldiers are now facing dismissal.
These heroes want to serve their country, and they're willing to give the ultimate sacrifice to do so. In return, this administration wants to force them to violate their consciences.
Our military members deserve better. They deserve a federal government that doesn't violate their rights in the name of big-government mandates, and that's why thousands of veterans have joined the Convention of States Project.
Over 5 million Americans have voiced support for Convention of States, over 2.5 million have signed the petition, and thousands of former and current military members have joined the Veterans Coalition. They're joining the Article V movement in droves because only a Convention of States can effectively and permanently limit federal power.
A Convention of States has the power to propose constitutional amendments that limit federal power and spending, and mandate term limits for federal officials. With these amendments in place, the president will never again be able to impose nationwide vaccine mandates, sweeping executive orders, or tyrannical federal regulations.
