Diversity is not inherently harmful; neither is it inherently virtuous. But when diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) are enforced by government agencies, these seemingly innocuous terms become, ironically, extremely divisive — especially when coupled with a $270 million price tag.
According to a new report from The Daily Wire, if the Department of Defense’s (DOD) fiscal year 2024 budget is approved, Joe Biden’s Pentagon will be on track to have spent a whopping $270 million on “diversity” from 2022 to 2024. The DOD’s Strategic Management Plan, implemented in Biden's first full year in office, included appeals to “strengthen DEIA efforts” at the behest of the president's “Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility in the Federal Workforce” executive order, resulting in a massive uptick in diversity spending.
“As the Nation’s largest employer, the Federal Government must be a model for diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, where all employees are treated with dignity and respect,” Biden declared, calling for more “lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, gender non-conforming, and non-binary (LGBTQ+) persons” in his administration.
While it is not entirely clear where the administration's DEIA funding is spent, a recent leaked document from the National Security Agency (NSA), which is a part of the DOD, reveals that the department has completely embraced “woke” ideology, complete with a glossary of social justice terms, including:
“ableism: Prejudiced thoughts and discriminatory actions based on differences in physical, mental, and/or emotional ability.”
“accomplice: The actions of an accomplice are meant to directly challenge institutionalized racism, colonization, and white supremacy by blocking or impeding racist people, policies, and structures.”
“acculturation: The general phenomenon of persons learning the nuances of or being initiated into a culture. It may also carry a negative connotation when referring to the attempt by dominant cultural groups to acculturate members of other cultural groups into the dominant culture in an assimilation fashion.”
“anti-racist: An anti-racist is someone who is supporting an antiracist policy through their actions or expressing antiracist ideas. This includes the expression or ideas that racial groups are equals and do not need developing and supporting policies that reduce racial inequity. ‘To be antiracist is to think nothing is behaviorally wrong or right – inferior or superior – with any of the racial groups. Whenever the antiracist sees individuals behaving positively or negatively, the antiracist sees exactly that: individuals behaving positively or negatively, not representatives of whole races. To be antiracist is to deracialize behavior, to remove the tattooed stereotype from every racialized body. Behavior is something humans do, not races do.’ (Kendi, 2019)”
“cissexism: The assumption that all people are cisgender. Because this assumption is so deeply ingrained in our society through socialization, many people say and do things that are cissexist without realizing it or intending to.”
“colonialism: The exploitative historical, political, social, and economic system established when one group or force takes control over a colonized territory or group; the unequal relationship between colonizer and the colonized.”
“ethnocentrism: The emotional attitude that one's own race, nation, or culture is superior to all others.”
These are only a few of the many examples contained within the NSA’s 34-page social justice handbook. Additionally, West Point is reportedly teaching cadets about Critical Race Theory, advocating that, “In order to understand racial inequality and slavery, it is first necessary to address whiteness,” according to documents reviewed by Fox News.
Isn’t it reassuring to know that in the face of an invasion on our southern border, increased Chinese aggression, open threats against the U.S. from Iran, the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, and wars in the Middle East and Ukraine, the U.S. is equipping its soldiers… with lectures about whiteness and cissexism? “Ethnocentrism awareness” is precisely what they need to stop terrorists and protect our borders, I’m sure.
In reality, our woke federal government is tanking the reputation of the U.S. military as it prioritizes its virtue-signaling agenda over military readiness, competence, and excellence. Now, before it’s too late, the American people must use Article V of the Constitution, the Founders’ prescribed antidote to an out-of-touch, out-of-control federal government, to put the Department of Defense back on track.
