BETRAYAL: “Spare me the bulls**t about constitutional rights,” House Dem proclaims

Published in Uncategorized on June 03, 2022 by Brianna Kraemer

In complete betrayal to the American people and the U.S. Constitution, House Democrat David Cicilline dismissed American's constitutional rights on Thursday night during a gun control debate against House Republicans on Capitol Hill.

After nine hours of debate in the House Judiciary Committee pertaining to gun legislation, tensions were high. The anti-Constitution comment from the Rhode Island representative was in response to Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz’s criticism of red flag laws.

“Congress disfavors the enactment of laws that authorize a court to issue an extreme risk protection order, also known as Red Flag laws, in the States because such laws trample on an individual’s due process and Second Amendment rights,” Gaetz said, sparking a heated exchange.

“Spare me the bulls**t about constitutional rights,” Cicilline replied.

This dismissive remark proves our U.S. Constitution is endangered by the same elected leaders who took an oath of office to uphold the Constitution.

The United States has been a leader for the rest of the world since our founding, and it’s not acceptable for any power-hungry politician to come in and sidestep what we've based our independence off of for many generations.

Biden has repeatedly said that the Second Amendment is “not absolute,” but apparently every other part of the Constitution is not absolute to some of our leaders either.

The federal government can issue an emergency declaration in a variety of situations to control We the People, but we have a way to issue an emergency declaration against their abuse: Calling an Article V Convention of States

At Convention of States, we will always have the utmost respect for our Founding Fathers and the Constitution they wrote at our nation’s beginning. We see how federal government overreach has crept in, and we want to do something about it.

The states can take away power, impose term limits on federal officials and implement fiscal restraints by meeting for a convention. We need 34 state legislatures to agree to a Convention of States, and 19 have already done so.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
