Halloween Gold: Ba Da Da Da (snap, snap)

Published in Blog on October 31, 2022 by Maria Moungelis Bedard

They're creepy and they're kooky
Mysterious and spooky
They're all together ooky
The Swampy family

Their house is a museum
When people come to see 'em
They really are a scream
The Swampy family

Neat
Sweet
Petite

So put a witch's shawl on
A broomstick you can crawl on
We're gonna pay a call on
The Swampy family

They're creepy and they're kooky
Mysterious and spooky
They're all together ooky
The Swampy family

Strange
Deranged
The Swampy family

Featuring

Chuck Schumer as Gomez

Nancy Pelosi as Morticia

Mitch McConnell as Uncle Fester

Hillary Clinton as Grandmama

Adam Schiff as Pugsley

Dianne Feinstein as Wednesday

and

Joe Biden as Lurch

This is scary stuff. These people have served in elected office for far too long:

  • President Joe Biden has been in Washington since 1973
  • Senator Mitch McConnell since 1985
  • Senator Chuck Schumer has been in elected politics since 1975
  • Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi since 1987
  • Senator Chuck Grassley has been in office since 1980
  • Hillary Clinton just won't go away, no matter how many times she loses

Imagine a White House, US House of Representatives, and a Congress with fresh faces and fresh ideas. It's possible with an Article V Convention of States that would impose term limits for federal office holders and government officials.

They've outlived their expiration dates.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:

Thank you so much for your service to the people of our district.
