In advance of the 2022 midterm elections, and in light of his abysmally low approval ratings, President Joe Biden knows he needs to tell the American people he at least tried to lower skyrocketing inflation rates, a huge area of concern for voters. Unfortunately, the best he has to offer is the misleadingly titled Inflation Reduction Act, which he signed today after it passed out of Congress earlier this month.
Experts have warned the bill will do very little to lower inflation. It really is nothing more than a radical, unconstitutional agender under the guise of “inflation reduction.”
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was recently pressed by ABC News anchor Jon Karl on the legislation’s deceptive name. “It’s called the Inflation Reduction Act,'' the journalist noted, “but the Congressional Budget Office, which is non-partisan, said that there would be a negligible impact on inflation this year and barely impact inflation at all next year. Isn’t it almost Orwellian? How can you call it the Inflation Reduction Act when the nonpartisan experts say it’s not going to bring inflation down?”
Jean-Pierre dodged the question, instead focusing on how the legislation will ensure that billions pay “their fair share.” Additionally, the bill allocates $369 billion to energy security and climate change (nearly half of all the funding in a bill purportedly dedicated to lowering inflation), plus billions more to the IRS, all of which, interestingly, has nothing to do with the ostensible purpose of the bill.
We shouldn’t think of the so-called Inflation Reduction Act as a legitimate attempt to lower inflation; it’s a disingenuous election scheme. Power-mad politicians in Washington are using this ploy to buy votes from the American people, lying to the public that they lowered inflation when in reality, all they did is advance their own radical agenda.
Clearly, our federal officials don’t have our best interest at heart. To them, staying in power is more important than doing what is right for the millions of families struggling under the current economy.
Knowing that humans are susceptible to the corrupting influence of power, our Founders anticipated that this might happen. As a precaution, they left the states with a powerful tool to rein in the federal government should it ever get out of hand: an Article V Convention of States.
Today, millions of Americans are sick and tired of the way the federal government wastes their money. And they’re ready to do something about it. If ever there was a time to call a Convention of States, that time is now. We need 34 states to trigger a Convention, and at 19, we’re already more than halfway there.
