7 Ways to Prepare for Inauguration Day

Published in Blog on January 13, 2025 by Jakob Fay

Save six minutes with COS FACTS Summary: Prepare for inauguration day by following seven easy steps.
1. Shop the store
2. Sign the petition
3. Share the word
4. Sign the Open Letter to Trump
5. Encourage Elon Musk to endorse COS
6. Revisit past inaugural addresses
7. Pray

President-elect Donald Trump’s second inauguration is one week away, and millions of Americans are ready to turn the page on the past four years. As we count down the days until Trump’s swearing-in, we have compiled seven quick steps you can take to prepare for the big day.

1. Shop the store

It's time to upgrade your closet. Swap out those dull, dreary shades for the vibrant hues of the Great American Revival! Stars and stripes and inspiring patriotic quotes will abound when you shop at Article V Outfitters!

2. Sign the petition

Have you really not signed the petition yet?! Ludicrous! Convention of States Action is making impressive headway toward limiting the size and scope of the federal government, and we don't want to leave you behind. Climb aboard the COS train today by signing the petition below.

3. Share the word

Forgive me for raining on the inauguration parade, but the painful truth is that no one president can truly “rein in” the D.C. establishment — at least not permanently. As our fellow citizens look to Trump to roll back federal tyranny, we have the opportunity to show them how Article V can be used to preserve liberty and limited government. Share the Convention of States petition link with your friends and family to educate them about this powerful tool at Trump’s disposal.

4. Sign the Open Letter to Trump

President Trump’s second cabinet is shaping up to be a who’s who of COS champions and endorsers. By signing our Open Letter to Trump, you can join us in congratulating the incoming commander-in-chief on his victory and encouraging him to cement a legacy of freedom that will last beyond his term by supporting Article V.

Affix your signature to the letter
here to show Trump the overwhelming grassroots support for returning power to the people.

5. Encourage Elon Musk to endorse COS

SpaceX Founder and X Owner Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) will seek to reduce government spending, overreach, and corruption, and yet, amazingly, he hasn’t endorsed COS yet! By sharing this video and other resources from COS on X and tagging Musk, you can help bring the Constitution’s audit clause to the DOGE leader’s attention!

6. Revisit past inaugural addresses

Presidential inaugurations have featured many of American history's most memorable speeches and one-liners. “With malice toward none.” “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” “Ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country.” “Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.” This week, take the time to review a few of the most famous examples: Abraham Lincoln’s First Inaugural mentions the Article V convention process; his Second may be the best speech in American history. John F. Kennedy’s Inaugural Address exemplifies stirring oratory, while Ronald Reagan’s highly-quotable First still inspires us today.

7. Pray

The U.S. presidency is a challenging commission from the American people, one which only 45 men throughout history have received. Although we may not understand the magnitude or pressure of the job facing Trump, we can remember him in our prayers.

As Ronald Reagan said during his inauguration, “I'm told that tens of thousands of prayer meetings are being held on this day, and for that I'm deeply grateful…. It would be fitting and good, I think, if on each Inaugural Day in future years it should be declared a day of prayer.”

Take these seven action steps to prepare for next week's historic transfer of power! Sign the COS petition below.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
