December 2024: COS Michigan is working with Michigan legislators to finalize language for both a Commissioner Selection Resolution and a Criminal Penalty Bill!

Both these pieces of legislation are critical for Michigan's future involvement in an Article V convention.

COS Michigan is made up of Michiganders unwilling to sit idly by while the federal government spends the country into the ground and seizes control of even more areas of our lives. The Constitution provides us with a solution, and We the Volunteer Team of COS Michigan choose to stand up, step out, and make a difference.

  • FEDERAL OVERREACH

Washington DC now regulates every area of our lives and functions under a 2700 page version of our Constitution.

  • NATIONAL DEBT

34 Trillion in National debt and no sign of stopping. Congress is clearly in need of an intervention.

  • CAREER POLITICIANS

The average tenure of members of Congress keeps going up, but their approval rating doesn't.

Washington, D.C. is broken and will not fix itself. Will you rise to the challenge with us?

What is a Convention of States?

A Convention of States is a convention called by the state legislatures for the purpose of proposing amendments to the Constitution. This power is granted to them under Article V of the Constitution. It is not a constitutional convention and cannot throw out the Constitution. A Convention of States can only propose amendments that fit within the topic of the applications adopted by the state legislatures.

Why Call a Convention of States?

Washington, D.C. will never voluntarily relinquish power, no matter who is elected. It is time for American citizens to take a stand against tyranny and make a legitimate coordinated nationwide effort to curb the power of the federal government. Only a Convention of States has the constitutional power to repair the damage and halt the federal government from further eroding the liberties of the sovereign citizens.

Please watch the below video to learn more about our movement.

Article V of the Constitution of the United States

“The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.”

YES! A modern-day Article V Convention can't throw out the Bill of Rights or draft a whole new Constitution. Take a few minutes to look through the numerous protections in place to ensure that a convention stays within its bounds.

19 States have officially called for an Article V Convention to propose amendments that impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, term limits on federal officials, and reduce the size and scope of the federal government. 34 states are required. Will Michigan be next?

Physicians for COS

The diagnosis is clear.

We have a growing cancer today known as the Obamacare. As a result physicians are no longer free to practice medicine.

No profession feels the full force of the federal government more than physicians. The medical profession is the most highly regulated profession in the United States. The practice of medicine is controlled, taxed, and regulated to the point of being destroyed by the heavy hand of the federal government.

Physicians are told how to bill, how much to charge, and how to treat patients. They are mandated to use expensive electronic medical records. The federally enacted HIPPA (Health Information Privacy and Portability Act) makes the communication between physicians and atients burdensome, inefficient, and expensive. Every physician is required by federal mandate to register with the government to obtain an NPI (national provider identifier.) We are required by federal law to obtain and pay for a license to prescribe medication through the DEA, which is separate from our state licensure.

This heavy hand of government not only oversees the largest federal health bureaucracy ever created, but by extension reaches into every state, every city, and every small town to regulate how every licensed physician practices the art of medicine and how citizens obtain care.

The treatment is also clear.

The prescription for a cure was written into our constitution by our founders. Article V of our constitution allows for the states to call for a convention of states to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government through the proposal of constitutional amendments. Physicians should be the strongest supporters of this brilliantly-crafted states’ rights tool placed into our constitution by our founders.

I urge my fellow American physicians to join with me in supporting an Article V Convention of States to take back control of the practice of medicine. It’s the only way that we can return the practice of medicine back to the intimate relationship between a doctor and patient without interference by the heavy hand of a distant, national government.
