What's happening with the Santa Rosa City Council?

Published in Blog on August 30, 2019 by Debra J Oresko

Who: Jordan Newkirk, District Captain, Assembly District 2

What: Santa Rosa City Council

When: Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 4:00 p.m.

Where: City Hall, 100 Santa Rosa Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95404

Why: To observe City Council proceedings and become familiar with City Council issues. Introduce Convention of States supporters and provide educational material.

District Captain Jordan Newkirk invites Convention of States supporters to join her at the next meeting of the Santa Rosa City Council.

Starting with her first district meeting, Newkirk is building her team of engaged, grassroots activists. Attending the city council meeting is an opportunity to observe the City Council in action and engage with members of the community.

At locations throughout District 2, Newkirk plans to meet regularly with volunteers and cooperate to spread the message that Article V of the Constitution is the solution as big as the problem of federal overreach.

The federal government interferes with local decision-making on matters of health, education, business, law enforcement, land management, and debt burden.

"I'm building my team, so cooperatively we can promote the Convention of States as the solution to big problems in our area," she said.

A Democrat-turned-Independent voter, Newkirk wants to understand her legislators' concerns, not challenge them on policy. Her district is represented at the state level by Assembly Member Jim Wood and State Senator Mike McGuire.

"I am excited to let people know that through Article V we can take power back from the bureaucrats in Washington, D.C.," she said.
