WATCH: COS Action Maryland District Captains Testify in the Senate

Published in Grassroots Library Opposition on March 30, 2023 by Maria Moungelis Bedard

On March 3rd and March 14th, 18 Marylanders testified in the House of Delegates and the Senate respectively in support of an Article V Convention of States. You can watch their compelling testimonies by selecting the links with their names below.

Seth Lipko is the Baltimore-Anne Arundel Counties Regional Captain and lives in District 32. Seth has been a volunteer since 2016 and now represents over 4,000 supporters.

It's our duty to move our society in a positive and forward direction. Our federal government is failing to do this. They're taking this role away from you!...and they're doing it without the approval of the American people. You're our only hope to stop this trend. I'm not being represented well in Washington, but I hope I'm being represented here.

We want to end lifeling residencies in Congress, allowing new ideas to solve our nation's problems.

Will Zwart is from District 36 representing over 1,400 Maryland supporters and lives in Centerville, Maryland. Will wears many hats including District Captain, State Content Writer, State Videographer, meme maker and Boy Scout.

My generation feels like we have no voice, no control over our future. Article V shows my generation that we can be involved in the system and make a difference.

Term limits will opens up seats for us to be in the system.

Similar to how the Emancipation Proclamation gave thousands of slaves control over their lives, a Convention of States will give millions of Americans control over their lives.

Mary Jane Perraut is the Montgomery-Howard Counties Regional Captain representing almost 5,000 supporters.

Citizens across the state are concerned about what's happening in Washington and they are relieved when they learn there is a solution.

A recent survey showed that 80% of voters across party lines want Congress term limited.

Ask yourself, "What do I have to lose by voting for this bill for the first time?"

Dave Hafer is a new District Captain in District 29 from Mechanicsville, Maryland. Dave represents over 1,600 Maryland supporters. Dave is a former Marine and a civil servant with first hand knowledge of government spending practices.

Over time, it became clear that the Federal government will not restrain itself. (The Founders) would be astounded and dismayed at the size and scope of the Federal government...They left an Escape Clause: it's called Article V of the Constitution.

Seth, Will, Mary Jane and Dave represent 12,000 Maryland citizens that support an Article V Convention of States as proposed in SJ1 and HJ2. There are 30,500 Marylanders that have signed the petition and expect a vote on the resolution by the Committee for a full debate on the Senate floor.

The legislative session is ending soon - we are hopeful our resolution will be voted on this session so that it can be debated in the full House and Senate.
