WATCH: Convention of States DEFIES expectations

Published in Blog on January 28, 2024 by Jakob Fay

Convention of States grassroots supporters are turning out in droves to champion Article V as COS takes state legislatures across America by storm. To stay in the know about our relentless legislative efforts and advocacy, tune in weekly to COS NOW, a video recap highlighting the most significant COS-related news of the week. Alternatively, catch up on these updates right here on the COS blog.

1. COS shatters partisan divide in key state

You often hear us tout that Convention of States is a “bipartisan” effort.

But is that actually true?

Well, new polling from Pennsylvania — the state in which the Constitution was penned — confirms that yes! our grassroots initiative to call an Article V convention enjoys overwhelming bipartisan support.

2. Leading Article V scholar uncovers FASCINATING new evidence for limited convention

“A common tactic among opponents of an amendments convention is to label it a ‘constitutional convention,’ and then claim that a constitutional convention is inherently unlimited,” notes constitutional scholar Professor Robert G. Natelson in his latest article for the Article V Information Center, in which he highlights groundbreaking new (and historic) Article V research. “The fact that courts have repeatedly limited constitutional conventions seems not to have occurred to them.”

Don’t miss this important scholarship.

3. A COS endorser… at Davos?? Kevin Roberts tears into elites at WEF

The world’s most notorious elites are back at it again with another round of human hacking, climate fretting, and nation plotting (or, as they like to put it, “world community” planning) at Davos, Switzerland. But what happens when a Convention of States endorser — a man who believes that decision-making power ought to belong to everyday people, not global aristocracies — is handed a mic at the World Economic Forum (WEF)?

The results are just as satisfying to watch as you might imagine.

4. Hawaii Team Kicks Off Its 9th Annual Outreach to State Legislators!

On Wednesday, January 17, ten intrepid members of the Convention of States Hawaii team braved insane parking problems, long security lines, and threatening bad weather to launch the team’s 9th annual legislative session, in which COSHI team action will be prominent for the next six weeks.

5. COS is everywhere all at once this January

The grassroots really outdid themselves. Again.

Boasting millions of supporters nationwide and equipped with skilled political operatives spanning nearly every state legislative district in America, Convention of States is well positioned for substantial grassroots impact in 2024 and beyond. With an estimated 37 state legislative sessions opening this January, we are, as Convention of States President Mark Meckler put it last week, “going full throttle. The grassroots have dedicated months of effort to lead up to this moment, and now that it’s here, you can expect them to push ahead full-speed.”

6. Sen. Ira Pressrites RETURNS

Senator Ira Pressrites, an ardent opponent to Convention of States, is not only once more speaking out against it, but is joined by several of his fellow legislators from the distinguished halls of Congress, who share the passionate and unhinged opinions of their host.
