As Convention of States celebrates 10 years of activism, we recognize that grassroots mobilization is at the center of it all.
COS activists commit their time and energy to educating and relationship-building, two essential actions in an effective grassroots organization. Without this fundamental operation taking place in every community, there would be no way to succeed in calling an Article V convention.
Since launching in 2013, the COS grassroots in every state have ignited hope through their victories. In 2014, Georgia volunteers pushed the Convention of States Resolution over the finish line, becoming the first state to do so. From there, the movement only grew with more momentum and power.
"I can't believe it's been 10 years. So much has been accomplished over the last 10 years and all of it because of the hard work of activists," said Mark Meckler in the video below. He added that when an Article V convention is officially called, all credit is going to belong to the grassroots, who are the ones making it happen every day.
WATCH:
COS activists in every region of the county give people hope and stand as the last line of defense against the out-of-control bureaucracy. These individuals give others a cause to unite behind and something to get excited about. The grassroots are making a difference and the 2.5 million petition signers are unmistakable proof.
The Convention of States organization topped 2.5 million petition signers this month, a remarkable milestone in the Article V movement. But the grassroots don't stop. Since the achievement, activists have been busy at events ranging from the Michigan Munger Potato Festival to the New York Herkimer County Fair – which accounted for 325 more petitions.
When an individual signs the COS petition, we automatically deliver a copy to their state legislators so that politicians are aware of their constituents' strong support for reining in the federal government.
The energy is through the roof and we're excited to work toward an additional 2.5 million petition signers as we draw closer to the official Article V convention. To further extend the COS message, add your name below and help us work toward our next big milestone.
