Tributes to James MacDonald:

Steadfast

Ramona DeSalvo

In I Corinthians 15:58, Paul wrote, “Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”  Paul was writing to the Corinthians about the time when we mortals put on immortality, and then we can triumphantly know, “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory O death, where is your sting?”  Jesus overcame death, and He gave all believers victory over death.

Steadfast is defined as unchanging, firmly fixed in place, immovable, and not subject to change.  It is the word used to describe God’s unchangeable love for us.  In turn, as a believer, James Martin MacDonald did all he could to be steadfast in his love for the Lord, for his family, and for his country.  Jim knew exactly where he would be when his journey in this world came to an end.  He loved the Lord faithfully, and he knew that heaven was his home.

Steadfast was also the oft-heard word at Jim MacDonald’s celebration of life on March 15, 2025, when his friends and family talked about much he would be missed.  His loyalty to COS and his friendship to the COS teams across the country impacted many lives.  Most importantly, he was remembered as a loving husband of 39 years to his wife, Debbie, and a fiercely loyal mentor and dad to their four children, Jennifer, Samantha, Daniel, and Scott, and to his grandchildren.  Few pictures were displayed at the service in which Jim was not holding one of his grandchildren in his arms.

Arguing with the Propaganda-Driven Crowd: A Futile Exercise in Reason

Robin Sampson McCarthy

“You can’t use reason to convince anyone out of an argument that they didn’t use reason to get into.” —Neil deGrasse Tyson.

The election is over, but the Propaganda-Driven Crowd is still balking, arguing, clinging to narratives that defy reality. It doesn’t matter how many facts are presented, how many constitutional principles are explained, or how much history is recounted—logic and reason do not penetrate minds that refuse to engage with truth.

Yet, we can be grateful that the election results proved over 50% of Americans are not buying the propaganda pushed by ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and MSNBC—the so-called alphabet media—showing that truth, common sense, and constitutional values still resonate with the majority.

This isn’t new. John Adams warned, “Facts are stubborn things, and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” But what happens when people refuse to acknowledge facts altogether? That’s the world we live in today—where emotions dictate a false reality, identity politics outweigh the Constitution, and reason is discarded in favor of ideological zeal.

Moral Courage: The Backbone of Liberty

Robin Sampson McCarthy

We live in a time when standing up for truth comes at a cost. Speaking out can bring backlash. Defending what’s right often means going against the grain. But if we want to see real change—to reclaim the values and freedoms that made this nation great—we must be willing to show moral courage, and most importantly, take action.

The Convention of States movement isn’t just about fixing the government; it’s about reviving the spirit of self-governance. This revival requires people like you—citizens willing to stand up, speak out, and do what’s right, no matter the cost.

The Strength to Stand
Moral courage is not about being fearless. It’s about taking action despite fear. It’s choosing to stand firm when it would be easier to stay silent. It’s the courage that built this nation—the same courage the Founding Fathers had when they risked their lives for freedom. As Thomas Jefferson said, ”All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent."

TVA Needs the DOGE Treatment

A local problem highlights national ineptitude, mismanagement, waste, and worse!

Thousands of taxpaying homeowners and farmers in Cheatham County (pop. 45,000) are facing the loss of personal property and displacement due to TVA’s plans to construct a 900-megawatt methane gas plant on 286 acres of farmland on Lockertsville Rd. in Ashland City, TN. The plant will include:

  • 14 turbines
  • 10.5 acres of lithium battery storage
  • Diesel fuel storage tanks, fuel oil storage tanks
  • Eight miles of new gas pipelines
  • Many miles of massive new transmission towers/lines throughout Cheatham and Robertson Counties

Your Network is Your Power

Joseph Sheeley

Regardless of party, incumbents are a serious issue. They become addicted to the power and prestige. They start to do things and cut deals to get along rather than stand up for their principles. Worst of all, some become compromised through blackmail after being caught in one of the many indiscretions that are constant temptations for people in power away from home.

Certainly, a Congressman, Justice, or even a President who is in your control because you have dirt on him would be a powerful tool. You can bet that there are many people trying to gain just that type of power in Washington, D.C. The longer people stay in Washington, the easier it is to gain control over a substantial number of individuals. Having the voters changing them out regularly makes the task of getting a group under your power far more difficult.

The best time to remove an incumbent is in the primary process. Unfortunately, many incumbents face no primary challengers. In fact, often they are threatened that they will be “primaried” if they don’t follow the party line and face no opposition if they do. Actually, facing a substantial challenger has become that rare.
