Volunteer of the month: Mark Gotz

Published in Blog on September 15, 2018 by Brenda MacMenamin

I met Mark in 2013 when he had volunteered to be the District Captain for his House District. He served there for several months when I realized that this was not the only place he was serving his fellow citizens. He was regularly attending budget, finance, and regular meetings of his city and county to hold local officials accountable to common-sense principles of limited government.

In 2015, we were hosting a Convention of States Simulation in Florida and needed someone to fill the position as Chair. Mark valiantly rose to the occasion! Enjoy this brief video.

As an educator and statesman Mark supports Convention of States:

The Convention of States to propose amendments to the
Constitution of the United States is a gift the founders gave
future generations.  They knew that the power of a federal
government might grow too big and become too powerful.  The
ability for states to amend the Constitution is still the best way
to rein in the ambitions of man.

Having the opportunity and honor of chairing two COS simulations
(Brandon, Florida and Jupiter, Florida) allowed me to realize the
power of the citizens to bring forth great ideas and then debate
those ideas to come up with sound solutions.

Therefore I am a STRONG SUPPORTER of the Convention of States.

Sincerely,
Mark Howard Gotz
