Unacceptable: Government targets self-sufficient, Amish farmer in PA

Published in Blog on September 01, 2022 by COS Staff Writer

An Amish farm in Pennsylvania was allegedly targeted by federal authorities recently who demanded the natural, self-sufficient farm cease operations and pay a $300,000 fine.

Owner Amos Miller isn't dependent on anyone, which is why he has not succumbed to mainstream farming practices and the government’s regulatory oversight.

Miller’s Organic Farm doesn’t use any gasoline or fertilizer, which means he has gone unaffected by the government-caused shortages experienced by most farmers across the world today due to the Ukraine-Russia conflict.

The farm bypasses meat and dairy processing at US Department of Agriculture facilities because Miller believes these standards make food less nutritious. With over 4,000 local customers, sidelining the USDA ruffled feathers in Washington, D.C just 150 miles away from the self-governing farm in Bird-in-Hand, PA.

Rebel News Reporter Jeremy Loffredo told the story on Tucker Carlson, explaining that the entire attack by the feds is supposed to scare the lone farmers who operate independently from government regulation into submission.

“By taking out the middleman – by taking out the government, you’re taking power away and taking leverage away from the government and putting that power and leverage in the hands of the community and the farmers and the people,” Loffredo told Tucker Carlson.

Regulatory standards have become increasingly difficult to adapt to, as recently seen by angry Dutch farmers who are forced to comply with strict environmental standards to address what the government believes is a climate emergency.

Convention of States Action reached out to the farm in an attempt to gain a better understanding of what sparked the federal overreach, but no one could be reached.

Nevertheless, the call for a Convention of States is underway, with 19 state applications already filed. With just 15 more states to go in order to call an Article V convention, this kinds of power abuse is still running rampant from the pit of Washington, but will be addressed seriously during convention.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
