Faith and Politics at Work in Prayer – Part One

Liberty. Morality. Faith.

You have heard it said, “You don’t discuss religion and politics in polite company.” But a wise man once said, “The only two things that are worth discussing are religion and politics.”

Marx and Engels understood how important it is to separate peoples’ religion from their politics in order to further the socialist agenda. Today, leftist dogma replaces religion with science and seeks to marginalize people of faith.

When marveling at the newly formed American democracy, the French diplomat Alexis de Tocqueville declared, “Liberty cannot be established without morality, nor morality without faith.”

Convention of States offers citizens of faith the opportunity to impact the events of our times in powerful ways. COS supports the words of the wise man. The Bible is a book of politics and profound truth. Kingdoms and rulers rise and fall. But God is still on the throne, and He rules over all.

Tim Dunn is a successful businessman who is active with religious education institutions. He co-founded the non-profit Christian Midland Classical Academy and is on the board of Kings College in New York City. A number of his messages on faith and politics can be found on YouTube.

Tim Dunn talks about the three legs of a democratic system of government: The Rule of Law, Consent of the Governed, and Private Property. The statist system evolving in Washington is replacing these with Rule of the Elites, Consent of the Elites, and Collectivism.

We are witnessing the rapid shifting of the foundations of our great republic.
 

 
COS Prayer Warriors

Convention of States volunteers actively live out their faith while earnestly working to return our God-ordained nation to We the People.

Enshrined in our founding documents, we find the most basic recognition of God’s providence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Convention of States volunteers actively engage in the rigors of self-governance. Of significant importance to their activities is a group of COS volunteers who are working diligently behind the scenes. 

In Texas there is a small group of patriots, who are living out their faith. They are known as the COS Texas Prayer Warriors.

The Apostle Paul wrote, “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”

It "consists of people of many faith traditions who recognize that the battle for freedom in America is more than political or even cultural. There is a spiritual war being waged for the hearts and minds of the American People and for the very destiny of the nation.”

In "Faith and Politics at Work in Prayer – Part Two," we will meet some of these extraordinary people, explore their COS journeys, and consider the tremendous commitment they have to the proposition “One Nation Under God.”
