COS Float in 41st Annual MLK Day Parade

Published in Blog on January 20, 2023 by Kathryn Bartel

Convention of States participated in the 41st annual Dallas MLK Day parade. The parade is part of a day long celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s life and message.

Here we are getting ready for the parade. There were over 250 groups in the parade, so it takes a while to get it organized and started.

Here we are in the parade. The crowd was estimated at 100,000! Our float was the only one "on fire", which attracted a lot of attention from the kids and liberty lovers.

Here is the crowd reaction to our float.

Special thanks to the Bohnert brothers driving the float up from Kerrville. We hope this will be a regular parade stop for the Convention of States!

We had volunteers from Dallas, Collin, central Texas and Rockwall participating.

Breaking down the float for their trip back - Lady Liberty is secure and comfortable.

Parades are fun and effective in getting broader exposure to the Convention of States Project in the community.
