THE TOXIC APPLE TREE: US IMMIGRATION POLICY

Published in Blog on February 06, 2024 by Jon Jedliskowski

ARE YOU CONVINCED YET?

Apparently, many in the country still are not.

I have a problem. I would think most reasonable people in the United States would have the same problem I have.

As reported in widespread media earlier in the week, two New York City police officers attempted to break up a brawl between a mob of young men outside a migrant center in New York. The situation grew out of hand very quickly, and the mob soon turned on the police officers and proceeded to physically beat them. The savage attack was caught on video and went viral in no time. I'm sure you have seen it by now.

All of the mob members were recent immigrants. These recent immigrants were not in the USA legally. But Illegally. Nothing new. We should be used to it now. The attack occurred near the New Amsterdam Theater in a popular tourist center in New York, not in a rough part of town. Meaning, this sort of attack could have occurred anywhere USA. To anyone USA. Not good.

The perpetrators of the attack on the two lawmen were arrested and processed. Initially 5 men were booked, latest reports now share a total of seven arrested for the incident.

You may have also read in subsequent days of this attack, no more than two days, the mob members have been released. Criminal illegal aliens, after having been charged with perpetrating a savage deed as this, instead of being shipped off to Rikers Island........find themselves back on the streets with You and I! Free as You and I! Inane Liberalism doesn't even begin to describe this situation.

It doesn't stop there. After the release due to the asinine catch and release law of NY, one of the illegal immigrants arrested, Jhoan Boada, made an obscene gesture to the news media with his two middle fingers upon exiting the police station. Most of you have probably seen this online by now. It's viral as viral can be.

Are you convinced yet? Do you have a problem with all of this? Does the country have a sound future with these types of acts of violence against the police becoming comparable to jaywalking?

The rationale for the release can be linked to the bail reform laws regarding catch and release that exist in New York. But that remains only one bad and rotted apple that has fallen from a branch of a toxic tree. The Toxic Tree of current US Immigration Policy.

New York Govenor Kathy Hochul stated deportation of the accused is 'Something that should be looked at.' Well, yeah. Of course. No doubt. But again, I would think most reasonable people in the United States would have the same problem I have. These perps are here. Illegally. And there is plenty more where that came from!

We should not be surprised by incidences such as this. The apple does not fall far from the toxic apple tree it is spawned from. Plenty have crossed that southern border, illegally, and we know little to nothing about them.

So as far as these NY perps is concerned, now we just wait for the arraignment or whatever? Correct? Well, maybe. Maybe not. Four of the men reportedly boarded a bus to California on Thursday, February 1st. As of Friday, February 2nd, their exact whereabouts were unknown. Reassuring. Since they were freed on bail, physically they were able to just get up and leave New York. UPDATE: The fugitives have since been apprehended in Phoenix, Arizona. But regardless, obviously we have entered a cat and mouse game like the wild west instead of an overriding respect for the law from our guests.

The micro problem in this instance is indeed New York's Catch and Release laws and what it does with the rotted apple.

The macro problem in this instance is indeed the Toxic Tree of current US immigration policy.

A recent Convention of States (COS) social media post quoted 'We all know better than to expect Congress to mend its ways. Indeed, it seems the only way we’re ever going to see these much-needed reforms is through a force outside of Washington, namely, Convention of States.'

I agree. One of the reasons I became an activist. My first published article for the Convention of States (COS) blog covered the illegal immigration crises more broadly: https://conventionofstates.com/news/border-crises-texas-vs-the-feds. It discussed the macro–Toxic Apple Tree of current US Immigration Policy. The Head of the Snake. A macro problem in desperate need of reform.

The reform includes not only ineffective Congressional actions on the immigration problem, but as stated in my earlier COS blog, a disengaged and potentially corrupted Executive Branch and that ever repulsive bloated federal bureaucracy of useless agencies.

Until then, going to be a lot of bad apples around!
