The President of the Kansas Senate endorses Convention of States

Published in Blog on August 24, 2019 by David P Schneider

The Kansas Senate President, Susan Wagle has announced her endorsement for the Convention of States and recently attended the Convention of States National Leadership Summit over the weekend in Virginia to help the movement forward!

Senator Wagle issued the following statement in support of Convention of States:

"In 2018, as the Kansas Senate President, I carried on the Senate Floor the legislation that would allow Kansas to join the Convention of States. I spoke passionately about the need to allow hard working Kansans, who are tired of government bureaucracy and over regulation, an opportunity for a Convention that would address our unsustainable debt and demand reform and accountability. While I had more than a majority of Kansas Senators vote with me, our Kansas constitution requires a two-thirds majority vote. In spite of our loss, we must continue to push forward, demanding accountability of our elected officials.

I care deeply for this country, and in spite of this temporary defeat, we must continue to stand together to protect the nation that was originally designed to be a beacon of hope, prosperity, freedom and entrepreneurship. As a business owner, wife, and grandmother to 15 grandchildren, I fully support and endorse the Convention of States as the best way to restore federalism and freedom, returning the people's rightful power back to the states."

Senator Wagle expressed her readiness to turn around the dysfunction of Washington, D.C. with the solution of calling a Convention of States and truly reform the Swamp. With her endorsement, she also wanted to help the movement by spending time with grassroots leaders from across the country as part of a panel discussion at the Convention of States Leadership Summit in Virginia.

As a reminder, the Convention of States resolution from 2019 is still under consideration in the Kansas House of Representatives. It passed through the House Federal and State Affairs Committee and hopefully will be on the floor for debate and passage very soon when the Kansas legislature comes back in January.

Make sure you contact your state legislators, meet with them, and express your want for them to be champions like Susan Wagle for Convention of States!
