Scientists use “Disease X” as a placeholder for the name for the next pandemic. The World Health Organization also uses “Disease X” in their Global Treaty for the same purpose. [1] It wouldn’t be wise for America to be blindsided by “Disease X” but should the rights of Americans be removed in the process? An Article V Convention of States can protect Americans against this tyranny. How? This requires a history lesson of COVID-19.
Covid-19 was the most expensive disease to ever hit the world. It cost America approximately $16 Trillion from the lost output and health reduction. [2] This is a little less than half our current debt, which is $35.1 Trillion. [3] That’s just the monetary costs; it’s impossible to put a price on not being able to say a final goodbye to Grandma on her deathbed because it was forbidden to see her to protect the health of the hospital or nursing home. It’s also impossible to put a price on being forced to choose being vaccinated with an experimental vaccine that could affect one’s life or one’s job.
For most people, Covid-19 seems like a distant memory that gave this freedom-loving nation exercise in tyranny based on state and local laws that adopted federal guidelines. What caused the lost output was “following the science” to “slow the spread” [4] President Donald Trump insists that he didn’t enact laws against the States, but his team provided guidelines that States followed in good faith from the CDC. However some of these guidelines “appeared” in the guidelines Dr. Fauci presented that had no basis in science, ie the six-foot distancing rules. [5]
Based on history the federal government produced a set of guidelines that most of the local and state jurisdictions followed with some exceptions until Governor Ron DeSantis in Florida opened his state up for schools and business’ inspiring other states to go against the “Guidelines”, because he questioned the efficacy of the guidelines. [6] In California, US Congressman Kevin Kiley among others fought against Governor Newsom who forced people to stay within their county without a vaccine passport, and forced school children to stay at home while he enjoyed eating out at five-star meals and had his children in a hybrid private school learning partially at home. [7]
Currently the World Health Organization is preparing a treaty for the nations of the world to sign, to help countries prepare for “Disease X”. [8] But some lawmakers expressed that it is a “global power grab” helping to spread progressive values at the expense of American Taxpayers. [9] An argument can be made that there will be global guidelines for this “Disease X” that would impede the rights of Americans, because of this accord.
Should America cede sovereignty for the sake of the next global pandemic? Of course not! An Article V Convention of States could be called upon to defund the World Health Organization and remove the unelected bureaucrats from making decisions that should be left to state and local jurisdictions.
