The Liberty Update. This week's need-to-know news.

Published in Blog on December 04, 2023 by Article V Patriot

Happy December, patriots! As we head into the last month of 2023, check out these essential headlines from last week’s news cycle. Listen to these stories here, on the latest episode of The Liberty Update, or read them below.

1. Top-ranked states in fiscal health back Convention of States

In a recent analysis conducted by Truth in Accounting, a striking correlation has emerged between the fiscal health of states and their support for the Convention of States movement.

The Financial State of the States report finds that 11 out of the 22 states that closed fiscal year 2022 with a surplus have actively endorsed the Convention of States Resolution, underlining a connection between sound financial practices at the state level and a commitment to federal government reform.

2. N.Y.C. evicts 94-year-old veteran, dozens of seniors to make room for illegal immigrants

Ninety-four-year-old Frank Tammaro was one of eight veterans and 53 seniors who lived in the Island Shores Senior Residence in New York City when they were abruptly evicted to make room for the city’s influx of illegal aliens.

“It was scary,” the Korean War veteran remembered. “Especially when I don't get around like I used to. I didn't know where I was going.”

3. CCP behind push for Americans to reduce meat intake

They first tried to guilt us with personalized climate footprint scores, but the population didn’t care. They tried marketing campaigns and tax incentives for electric vehicles, but the population didn’t care. They even tried to regulate our household items, like light bulbs and lawn equipment, but the population didn’t seem phased.

So, what are they moving on to now? The food you consume daily.

4. Dr. Kevin Roberts lays out 10 principles to save America

Dr. Kevin Roberts, who recently endorsed Convention of States and announced The Heritage Foundation’s monumental support, enjoys years of experience in conservative policy-making. In a recent address to the Steamboat Institute Freedom Conference, Roberts laid out 10 fundamental principles “we must agree on… that make conservatives conservative.”

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
