Marilynn Grant did not support Donald Trump in the 2016 Presidential election. She admits that she had very little interest in politics at that time. 2017 was a blur for her. She lost her mother and sister within months of each other. She also got caught up in the nonstop “orange man bad” mantra that the media kept pushing.
By the end of 2018, Marilynn was aware that something was not right with our country. She started noticing “censorship” on Facebook and became concerned after reading Sharyl Attkisson’s books Stonewalled and The Smear. She also became increasingly annoyed at the personal nature of the Trump jokes on the late-night talk shows and made the conscious decision to quit watching them.
This move prompted Marilynn to pay closer attention whenever Trump came on the television. She began to objectively listen to what he was saying and examined the policies he was proposing. Her husband and son were both more knowledgeable than she was about politics, so she began asking them questions and asked for their interpretation of some of the things she heard. These family conversations were “priceless” to her!
During 2019, Marilynn became obsessed with finding better sources for news and comedy. She reached out to family and friends to see what they were reading and watching. Most people at that time didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary and couldn’t suggest anything different. A friend recommended she check out NEWSMAX … and she was thrilled! This news channel supplemented what she had been getting from Fox News and eventually replaced the mainstream network and cable news outlets on her TV.
Marilynn and Nick decided that they weren’t going to sit on the couch and do nothing. They each looked for alternatives and Nick discovered the Convention of States (COS) organization. He jumped right in and became a District Captain. Nick was quickly promoted to Regional Captain and started giving presentations at the local Township Hall. On her own, Marilynn became a digital warrior, spreading the truth and exposing censorship. She also made a commitment to support Nick in his effort by becoming a COS Volunteer. In return, Nick agreed to try out some new social media platforms to help her spread her message.
At the beginning of 2020, COVID showed up. The Grants spent the year educating themselves about what was going on in the world. At the end of 2020, there was another election. This time, Marilynn voted for Trump.
“I now had a much better understanding of what he was trying to accomplish!” says Marilynn. “Nick and I also joined MeWe and Parler (until Amazon Web Services suspended it from its cloud hosting service the following January). 2021 became all about fighting the information war as a digital warrior.”
They were both doing more networking, training and sharing the resources that Marilynn had discovered. Marilynn also deleted her Facebook and other “traditional” social media accounts with mixed emotions. While she missed the daily interaction with family and friends, she could no longer tolerate the censorship. She happily discovered that it was freeing to not have the negative narrative and energy from those traditional sites. She discovered and signed up at many alternative platforms like CloutHub, Gab, Gettr, Rumble, Locals, and Telegram.
2022 was more of the same, however, now Marilynn was very aware of the corruption happening around the world and specifically within the United States. In response, she added Social Media Warrior to her COS Volunteer status. This led her to the tactical decision to set up “new accounts” on the platforms she had previously deleted … so now she is back on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter as well as the other alternative social media platforms she had left!
So far, 2023 has been all about Convention of States Michigan for Marilynn. She has joined the State Communications Coordinator Team and hopes to be a force within Convention of States (COS) to help educate, enlighten, and network with those who are willing to stand up, speak out, and take action for our country.
“If you want to help save our country, but don’t know what to do,” says Marilynn. “Join Convention of States. Sign the Petition and submit your Volunteer Application; it’s that simple! You can then choose to engage in the activities that match your interests and your time available. Don’t just stand by and watch. Get onboard and help save our country!”
