We are more than halfway to our goal to convene a Convention of States. 19 of 34 states needed have passed the Convention of States resolution. We’re making progress in all 50 states, including Maryland. Our National goal is to reach 24 states by 2024 and 34 states by 2026. Momentum is on our side.
Last year, for the first time, Convention of States Action Maryland had a sponsor in both the House of Delegates and the State Senate. We intend to add sponsors this year. That’s real progress!
The reality of a Convention of States is sinking in across the nation. State legislatures across the country are starting to discover their voice and the central role they play in our nation’s governance. The political class in Washington, DC is getting nervous that their grasp the power they lord over the people is coming to an end. We’re gaining endorsers and our mission is blurring the old lines of red and blue.
Whether Maryland passes the resolution or not, The Convention is Coming! Maryland’s state legislature may choose to ignore the will of the people, but once the 34th state passes the resolution, Maryland and the 16 other states have no choice but to appoint delegates and participate in The Convention.
A Convention of States will propose and debate amendments to the US Constitution in accordance with Article V. We will be laser focused on federal limits on time, money, and power.
As Mark Meckler, President of Convention of States, likes to say:
This is a slow march, not a marathon.
Will you join the march to a Convention of States?
