There has been a media frenzy because of the Putin-Trump meeting. So what do Convention of States Florida members think?
Nancy Suits, State Comms Coordinator
The media is on a frenzy over this meeting between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
While Democrats have made the most noise calling for the President to be tough on Putin for meddling in the 2016 election, Republicans also want Trump to use a firm hand to protect American interests abroad. We want the United States to remain the world’s preeminent superpower.
The alphabet media makes Trump out to be wrong no matter what he said or did. I would rather see them talking than NOT talking.
The important issues get left behind. Former U.S. Senator Tom Coburn appeared on Fox Business this week, and he explained that our uncontrolled national debt will soon cause either hyperinflation or a marked decrease in the value of the dollar.
Either way, when the United States falls off the impending fiscal cliff, we’ll lose our status as a world superpower and countries like Russia will be more than happy to step in and take our place. Who do countries around the world call on when they need help? The USA, we need to be fiscally strong and responsible.

Many Democrats are furious, apparently from the risk Trump will do something useful and perhaps show there was no “collusion”. With many Republicans furious - apparently over the possibility of peace with a reduction in arms sales and military deployment. And the media - wow.
Trump said, "I would rather take a political risk in pursuit of peace than risk peace for a political reason."
The Warhawks are furious that ISIS and Al Qaeda have been defeated in Syria. Because it was done by Syria and Russia. Because it happened despite the U.S. bombing and the U.S. weapons obtained by ISIS and al Qaeda.
What happens if Trump does something good? What happens if Russia does something good? What happens if NATO isn’t needed? What if peace breaks out? D.C. swamp rats of both major parties are furious at what might happen.
I’m not defending Putin in general, but he has been more anti-terrorist and anti-war than Trump in Syria. Russia has avoided inflating conflict with the U.S. even though the U.S. invaded their ally without a just cause. Putin and Trump talking is a good thing.
I am so tired of Mueller and his “investigation.” Put a fork in it! He has had a year with no sign of a conclusion. His latest evidence-free “indictment” of 12 Russians press released just before the Trump-Putin meeting shows his agenda. So what if Russians found some facts by logging into poorly secured Democratic Party servers? No worries for Mueller having to provide proof in court since there is zero possibility of an extradition and trial. It’s nothing but a political show against Trump, expertly timed for both the media cycle and Putin meeting.
But today I’m laughing. Thanks to the reactions of the DC politicians and Mueller and the media at the Trump/Putin chat. Talking with Putin is a disaster? Evidently yes, to both the Warhawks and the anti-Trumpers.
D.C. is out of control. I’m tired of nearly all the Ds and Rs in Congress and their $21 trillion spending spree. I’m tired of paying the FBI to play politics. Fire the lot them and hire people who understand what their job is supposed to be."
Congress seems unable or unwilling to address this growing problem, which is why We the People have taken matters into their own hands. Millions have joined the Convention of States Project, a nationwide grassroots effort to call an Article V Convention of States.
A Convention of States can propose constitutional amendments that force Congress on fiscal restraints and get our nation’s finances back on track. We can’t be strong abroad unless we’re strong at home, and an Article V Convention of States allows us to be exactly that. Visit www.conventionofstates.com for more information.
