Standing up for America is a Legg family tradition

Published in Blog on May 26, 2020 by Michaela Prchlik

Richard Legg is the Co-Director of Convention of States Connecticut. He grew up in Massachusetts and joined the Air Force after high school. He was stationed in Florida and Southeast Asia from 1959 to 1963.

When he left the service, Richard got a job in with Sikorsky Aircraft and ended his career at Emerson Electric in Danbury, Connecticut.

While he was working, he earned a degree in Economics from the University of Bridgeport, got married, and started a family. He retired from Emerson in 2006. By 2007 he grew tired of retirement and started his own general handyman firm. Richard lives in Ansonia.

Most participants in the Convention of States movement seem to have had an “aha” moment. For Richard Legg, that moment came in 2017.

That year his son gave him a membership in the Sons of the American Revolution. He learned that one of his ancestors was on the Lexington town green in 1775 when the British set out to capture colonial leaders and seize gunpowder. That man helped chase the British back to Boston. Richard decided it was time for him to do something, as well.

Richard did some research, found the Convention of States movement, and signed up to volunteer. After seeing his background and experience, the Regional Director for COS Connecticut interviewed him and asked him to take over as the State Director for Connecticut.

Richard has worked tirelessly to build a statewide network. Over the last three years, several key volunteers have been brought on board. Progress is being made to establish a strong grassroots organization in Connecticut!
