While on his visit to Boise, Idaho, Senator Jim DeMint hit the airwaves to get the message out about the importance of Idaho passing Article V Convention of States legislation.
Sept. 12, 2017 Boise, Idaho
Before speaking to a room full of Idahoans at the Dick Eardley Senior Center in downtown Boise, Senator Jim DeMint sat down for a few minutes with Nate Shelman from 670 KBOI's The Nate Shelman Show to explain the mission of the Article V Convention of States movement, clear up some misconceptions, as well as answer a few questions from callers.
Constitutional Convention or Convention of States?
When Nate asked what makes the Convention of States different from a Constitutional Convention, Senator DeMint said,
The point is not to pass anything in the Convention that tells people or states how to live their lives. The whole point of the Convention is to determine where those decisions are made. Are they going to be made in Washington [D.C.]? Is Washington going to tell you where your kids go to school, what kind of healthcare you're going to get, which roads you build in your state? Or are we going to do it like the Constitution intended?
