Reviewing Biden’s promise that inflation would be “temporary”

Published in Blog on July 19, 2022 by Jakob Fay

As Newsweek pointed out, today is the “one-year anniversary of Joe Biden's promise that inflation in the U.S. would not be long-term.” On July 19, 2021, the President guaranteed that “the price increases we have seen are expected to be temporary.”

At the time Biden assumed office, inflation was at 1.4%. In July 2021, when Biden dismissed concerns that inflation would last, it stood at 5.4%. One year later, inflation has skyrocketed to 9.1%.

The administration continues to insist that the economy “is in a better place than it has been historically” and that America has “the fastest-growing economy in the world.” Simultaneously, it has turned Russia’s war on Ukraine into a scapegoat, blaming climbing prices on what Biden calls “Putin's price hike.”

Although Vladimir Putin is partially responsible for inflation, we all know the real reason America is so poorly off, financially, is because Biden’s terrible economic policies put us in a place where we would be susceptible to inflation. Besides, inflation was already a huge concern before the war on Ukraine even began.

Russia is not responsible. Biden is.

According to polling data from May 2022, “59.9 percent of American voters believe that President Biden’s policies and spending are the leading contributors to rising inflation in the U.S.”

“Despite being told every day that Putin is responsible for virtually anything they’re not happy with–from inflation to baby formula to gas prices–a sizable majority of voters clearly believe it is President Biden and the Democrats, and not Moscow, who are responsible,” said Mark Meckler, the President of Convention of States (COS), the national organization leading the effort to call the first-ever Article V Convention.

“The failure of Biden’s Administration to take simple, common-sense steps to bring Americans relief is both cruel and indefensible.”

As prices continue to soar and the federal government adds fuel to the fire by recklessly spending billions of dollars, it’s time to recognize that Joe Biden can not be trusted with leading the country out of its current economic crisis.

Now is the perfect time for Americans suffering under record high inflation to renew their efforts in support of Convention of States, by which we can keep our government financially responsible. To show your support, sign the COS petition below!

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
