The solid and majestic memorial sculpture that is carved into Mount Rushmore doesn't exactly bring speed and quickness to mind, but South Dakota is moving rapidly toward adding itself to the roll of states that have called for an Article V convention.
On January 21, the South Dakota Senate did its part to become the 20th state to join the ranks.
Now it's up to the House, and the business at hand there begins February 3 when the House State Affairs Committee holds a public hearing regarding the COS resolution -- SJR 502 -- at 8:45 ET/7:45 CT.
The primary sponsor of the COS resolution in the House is Majority Whip Leslie J. Heinemann.
Should SJR 502 pass favorably, the resolution will move to the full House for a vote. The Senate approved the resolution by a vote of 23-9.
