There we stood, Americans all, watching helplessly as Lady Liberty was overwhelmed by a sea of government bureaucracy, over-regulation, and unconstitutional mandates; Lady Liberty was clearly drowning. There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Suddenly, a ring buoy was spotted on a post labelled: "In Case of Tyranny - Article V." The people raced to grab the ring buoy; Lady liberty could still be saved! But someone shouted, "Hold-on, my friends, this has been here for hundreds of years and it's never been used. Who are we to use it now?"
Then another shout was heard "You are not professional lifeguards. What special skills do you have? Your inexperience could simply make matters worse!
Finally, a third shout was heard, "What if you throw that and hit Lady Liberty in the head? Then she will drown for sure!"
So, the people turned away from the ring buoy and back toward the drowning Lady. They watched helplessly as she slipped beneath the sea and was lost forever.
Fellow citizens, will we allow fear, uncertainty, and doubt to prevent us from using the one tool given to us by the Founders to save Lady Liberty from the tyranny of an out-of-control federal government? It is time to call your state legislators and tell them to call an Article V Convention of States to impose term limits, ensure fiscal responsibility, and limit the size and scope of the federal government!
