Most world religions preach love and compassion. The overarching Judeo-Christian message embedded in our origins is “love thy neighbor.” In our history and founding, people emigrated to these shores to assimilate (which means to become one) and yes, to become one nation, to be free to believe what you want without threat of persecution.
America is enriched by a wealth of unique and diverse cultural habits, recipes, and traditions imported by newcomers. However, it is destructive to allow intruders to come here with a heart filled with hate and a desire to destroy. Anyone watching news of pro-Hamas terrorists chanting “death to Jews” should recognize this as completely un-American.
Now is not the time to sit blandly in front of the TV and lament the uninformed naivete of children and their related political unrest. It is necessary to stand up and speak for all that is good about this country before an illegitimate minority takes hold of what pundits like to call “the narrative.” The story of this country is freedom and progress that nurtures a strong and independent middle class.

On a local level it is time to do a little painful study about your community politics. Make sure you know the beliefs and plans of your own city, county, and school board commissioners.
Start now to study amendments that will appear on the Florida ballot this fall. Know that the title wording is sometimes designed to mean the opposite of what you would think. The unintended consequences cannot be foreseen. If you read newspaper accounts of these amendments, make sure you consider the political leanings of the editors.
The very least you can do is talk to your elected representatives. Tell them what you see as good for the country and what you believe to be outside influence going against the best interest of your homeland. If you don’t want to visit or call, write them a short card or note.
