This may be a good year to pay close attention to our election process, especially if you are, or know, one of 3.5 million Florida voters who have no party affiliation.
Follow these official Florida Division of Elections links to read the details.
Florida is a closed primary election state. That means voters have to be registered with a party in order to vote in a primary.
“However, there are times when all registered voters can vote in a primary election, regardless of which major or minor political party they are registered or even if they are registered without a specific party affiliation:”
1 – all candidates for an office have the same party affiliation
2 – nonpartisan races such as for judges and school board members
Don't miss an opportunity to weigh in on your local school board candidates.
