Convention of States North Carolina hosted a town hall meeting at the Hope Presbyterian Church, in Winston-Salem on Saturday, January 27.
The event drew nearly 70 local patriots who wanted to learn more about Convention of States and how it can solve problems in Washington, D.C.
Guest speakers included the project's State Director Mike Faulkenberry and a North Carolina state legislator, Rep. Dennis Riddell (NC 64). Representative Riddell is one of our Convention of States supporters.
Mike Faulkenberry was the first to address the audience. He spoke about Article V of the Constitution. He explained the process states use to propose amendments to the Constitution and what it takes to ratify them.
Representative Riddell then took the stage, expressing his support for Convention of States. He discussed the history of the Convention of States resolution in the 2017 legislative session and pointed out that while the resolution passed in the Senate, it did not pass in the House. However, the House voted to reconsider the resolution in the 2018 session, giving us another chance this year.
Mike Faulkenberry took several questions at the end of the speeches. Many people from the audience asked to sign the petition. It was a very successful event.
